APRNs perform a variety of roles depending on their specialization:
- Nurse Practitioners (NPs): Provide primary and specialty care, diagnose and treat illnesses, and prescribe medications. - Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs): Focus on improving healthcare systems, provide direct patient care, and educate other healthcare professionals. - Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs): Administer anesthesia for surgeries and other procedures, and manage patient care during recovery from anesthesia. - Nurse Midwives (CNMs): Offer gynecological, prenatal, and postnatal care, and assist with labor and delivery.
