How Can Nurses Educate Patients on Sunscreen Application?
Proper application of sunscreen is essential for effective protection. Nurses should provide the following guidelines:
Apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before going outdoors. Use a generous amount—approximately one ounce (a shot glass full) for full body coverage. Don’t forget commonly missed areas like the ears, back of the neck, and tops of the feet. Reapply every two hours, or immediately after swimming, sweating, or towel-drying.
