Brain tissue is comprised of neurons and glial cells, which are supported by blood vessels and connective tissues. It is primarily divided into gray matter, which contains most of the brain's neuronal cell bodies, and white matter, which consists of axons connecting different parts of gray matter to each other. The brain tissue is responsible for processing sensory information, regulating bodily functions, and enabling cognition and memory.
