A Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) is a registered nurse who specializes in the care of patients who are acutely ill and require close monitoring and intervention, but not to the extent of intensive care. This certification is provided by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) and is designed for nurses working in progressive care units, also known as step-down, intermediate care, or telemetry units.
