What Are the Signs and Symptoms of Burn Complications?
Burn complications can include:
- Infection: Look for increased redness, swelling, warmth, pus, or fever. - Dehydration: Monitor for signs of dehydration such as dry mouth, decreased urine output, and dizziness. - Hypothermia: Burn patients are at risk of losing body heat due to skin damage. Keep the patient warm and monitor their temperature. - Contractures: Scarring can lead to tightening of the skin and reduced mobility. Encourage range-of-motion exercises and physical therapy.
