The test consists of two parts: the NST and the ultrasound. The NST monitors the fetal heart rate and how it responds to fetal movements. The ultrasound assesses four criteria: fetal breathing movements, fetal movements, fetal tone, and amniotic fluid volume. Each criterion is scored on a scale of 0 to 2, with a total possible score of 10.
