A biophysical profile (BPP) is a prenatal test used to assess the well-being of the fetus. It combines an ultrasound examination with a non-stress test (NST) to evaluate five specific criteria: fetal heart rate, fetal breathing movements, fetal body movements, fetal muscle tone, and the amount of amniotic fluid. Each component is assigned a score, and the total score helps determine the health status of the fetus.
