Trisomy 18, also known as Edwards syndrome, is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra chromosome 18. This condition is associated with severe intellectual disability and multiple congenital anomalies, including heart defects, kidney problems, and other serious health issues. It is a rare condition, occurring in about 1 in 5,000 live births.
