What is the Educational Path to Becoming a Nurse Midwife?
To become a nurse midwife, one must first become a registered nurse (RN) by obtaining a nursing degree and passing the NCLEX-RN exam. Following this, they must complete a graduate program in midwifery, which typically results in a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus on midwifery. Finally, they must pass a certification exam administered by the AMCB.
