A tuberculosis (TB) test is a diagnostic tool used to determine if an individual has been infected with the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. There are primarily two types of tests: the Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) and the Interferon-Gamma Release Assays (IGRAs). These tests are critical in identifying TB infections, especially in high-risk populations such as healthcare workers, immunocompromised patients, and individuals from areas with high TB prevalence.
