To become an LPN, one must complete a state-approved educational program, usually offered by community colleges, vocational schools, or technical institutes. These programs typically last about one year and include coursework in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and nursing fundamentals. Upon completion, candidates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to obtain their license.
