Decubitus ulcers, also known as pressure ulcers or bedsores, are localized injuries to the skin and underlying tissue, primarily caused by prolonged pressure on the skin. They often develop on areas of the body that are bony or have little fat, such as the heels, ankles, hips, and tailbone.
