The Semont maneuver involves a series of rapid movements designed to dislodge the otoliths from the semicircular canals:
1. The patient sits on the edge of a treatment table. 2. The healthcare provider turns the patient's head 45 degrees to the unaffected side. 3. The patient is then quickly laid down on the affected side, maintaining the head turn. 4. After about 30 seconds, the patient is rapidly moved to the opposite side without changing the head position. 5. The patient remains in this position for another 30 seconds before slowly sitting up.
