The Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) is a non-invasive test that compares the blood pressure in the ankle with that in the arm. To measure ABI, use a blood pressure cuff and a Doppler ultrasound device. A normal ABI ranges from 1.0 to 1.4. An ABI of less than 0.9 indicates peripheral artery disease, while an ABI greater than 1.4 may suggest calcified arteries.
