To ensure accurate height measurement, nurses should follow these steps:
Ask the patient to remove their shoes, bulky clothing, and hair accessories. Ensure the patient stands with their back against the stadiometer, feet flat on the floor, heels together, and arms at their sides. The patient's head, shoulders, buttocks, and heels should be in contact with the stadiometer. Instruct the patient to look straight ahead, keeping the head aligned with the Frankfort horizontal plane (an imaginary line from the lower border of the eye socket to the tragus of the ear). Lower the headpiece until it touches the crown of the head, ensuring it is at a right angle to the measuring surface. Record the measurement at the point where the headpiece meets the ruler.
