Nurses use various methods to assess a patient's oxygenation status:
Pulse Oximetry: A non-invasive method that measures the oxygen saturation of the blood. Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs): A more invasive but precise method that provides information on the partial pressures of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood. Respiratory Assessment: Observing respiratory rate, rhythm, depth, and effort, as well as auscultating lung sounds. Physical Signs: Cyanosis, confusion, tachycardia, and dyspnea can indicate poor oxygenation.
