MIBG scintigraphy is primarily performed to: - Diagnose and locate pheochromocytomas and neuroblastomas. - Assess the extent of disease and metastasis. - Monitor response to therapy in patients with known tumors. - Evaluate for other conditions such as paragangliomas, carcinoid tumors, and medullary thyroid carcinoma.
