Transparent film dressings are ideal for superficial wounds, such as minor cuts, abrasions, and burns. They are also used for protecting IV catheters, central venous catheters, and other insertion sites from infection. These dressings are effective in maintaining a moist wound environment, which promotes faster healing and reduces the chances of scarring. They are not suitable for heavily exuding wounds as they lack the absorbency to manage significant amounts of exudate.
