Stay calm and ensure the patient's safety. Time the seizure to determine its duration. Protect the patient's head by placing a pillow or soft object underneath it. Loosen any tight clothing around the neck. Do not restrain the patient or place anything in their mouth. Turn the patient onto their side to prevent aspiration.
Nurses should also monitor the patient's vital signs and provide reassurance throughout the event.
