Advanced practice nurses, including nurse practitioners (NPs), clinical nurse specialists (CNSs), nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), and nurse midwives (CNMs), play a critical role in performing advanced procedures. These nurses often have a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing and have undergone specialized training and certification. They are authorized to diagnose conditions, prescribe medications, and perform procedures that go beyond the scope of regular RNs.
