The EQ-5D is a generic health-related quality of life instrument that consists of a descriptive system and a visual analogue scale (VAS). The descriptive system covers five dimensions: mobility, self-care, usual activities, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression. Each dimension has either three or five levels, reflecting the severity of problems.
