What is Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)?
Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, commonly abbreviated as PNF, is a set of stretching techniques used to enhance both active and passive range of motion with the ultimate goal of improving functional performance. Initially developed in the 1940s and 1950s by Dr. Herman Kabat, PNF techniques involve both the stretching and contracting of muscle groups.
