Oral thrush, also known as oral candidiasis, is a fungal infection caused by the yeast Candida albicans. It commonly affects the mucous membranes of the mouth and can cause white lesions, usually on the tongue or inner cheeks. While oral thrush can occur in individuals of all ages, it is more prevalent among infants, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems.
