IPv6, or Internet Protocol version 6, is the most recent version of the Internet Protocol (IP), which is used to identify and locate devices on a network. IPv6 was developed to replace IPv4, which has a limited number of unique IP addresses. IPv6 uses a 128-bit address, allowing for a significantly larger number of unique addresses.
