During the test, the patient is typically asked to lie down or sit in a comfortable position. The nurse places electrodes on the scalp using a conductive paste or gel. The patient may be asked to perform certain activities such as opening and closing their eyes, taking deep breaths, or looking at a flashing light. The test usually lasts between 20 to 40 minutes.
