What Education and Training are Required for Nursing Roles?
The educational and training requirements vary significantly among different nursing roles. RNs typically need a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and must pass the NCLEX-RN exam. NPs require a Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing and certification in their specialty area. LPNs usually complete a one-year practical nursing program and must pass the NCLEX-PN exam. CNAs need to complete a state-approved education program and pass a competency exam.
