Cardiac hypertrophy can be caused by a range of factors, primarily related to increased stress on the heart. Hypertension is the most common cause, as it forces the heart to work harder to pump blood throughout the body. Other causes include aortic stenosis, where the heart must exert more force to push blood through a narrowed valve, and genetic factors that predispose individuals to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Additionally, obesity and prolonged athletic training can also lead to cardiac hypertrophy.
