There are generally two main types of open access:
1. Gold Open Access: Articles are published in open access journals and are freely available to everyone. These journals often charge authors an Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover publishing costs. 2. Green Open Access: Also known as self-archiving, this option allows authors to deposit a version of their manuscript in an institutional repository or a subject-specific archive, usually after an embargo period.
