APNs have a wide range of responsibilities that vary based on their specialization:
Nurse Practitioners (NPs): NPs provide primary and specialty care, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, prescribe medications, and educate patients on disease prevention and management. Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs): CNSs focus on improving patient outcomes and nursing practices through direct patient care, consultation, research, and education. Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs): CRNAs administer anesthesia for surgeries and other procedures, monitor patients during anesthesia, and provide post-anesthesia care. Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs): CNMs provide gynecological and obstetric care, including prenatal, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care.
