While CVS is generally safe, it does carry some risks, including:
- Miscarriage: The risk is about 1 in 100 to 200. - Infection: There's a small risk of uterine infection. - Rh Sensitization: If the mother is Rh-negative, there may be a risk of Rh sensitization. - Bleeding and Cramping: Mild bleeding and cramping may occur.
