To become a CPN, candidates must first be licensed as a registered nurse (RN). They must also have a minimum of 1,800 hours of clinical experience in pediatric nursing within the past 24 months or 5 years of experience with 3,000 hours in pediatric nursing, with at least 1,000 hours in the most recent 24 months. Additionally, candidates must pass the CPN exam administered by the PNCB.
