While the NLC offers numerous advantages, it also has limitations:
- Non-Participating States: Nurses must still obtain separate licenses for states not in the compact. - State-Specific Regulations: Nurses must comply with the practice laws and regulations of each state they work in, even if those states are part of the NLC. - Discipline and Enforcement: If a nurse violates the nursing practice act in any compact state, they may face disciplinary action in their home state.
