Candidal infections, also known as candidiasis, are infections caused by species of the yeast Candida. The most common species is Candida albicans. These infections can occur in various parts of the body, including the mouth, throat, esophagus, vagina, and skin. In immunocompromised individuals, Candida can also cause more severe systemic infections.
