Wash hands thoroughly to reduce the risk of infection. Select the appropriate site, usually the side of the fingertip. Use an alcohol swab to clean the area. Prick the fingertip with a lancet. Gently squeeze the fingertip to obtain a drop of blood. Apply the blood to the test strip or device. Wait for the device to display the results.
