Dispose of the old dressing in a proper waste container. Clean the wound with sterile saline or a prescribed wound cleanser. Assess the wound for any signs of infection or complications. Apply any prescribed topical treatments. Apply a new sterile dressing, making sure it is secure but not too tight. Dispose of gloves and other used materials properly. Wash your hands again after completing the procedure.
