Respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette involves covering the mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, disposing of the tissue properly, and performing hand hygiene immediately. If tissues are not available, coughing or sneezing into the elbow or upper sleeve is recommended. Masks may be used to contain respiratory secretions.
