Formulating a clinical question is a critical first step in EBP. A well-constructed clinical question should be specific and relevant to the patient’s condition or situation. The PICO format is widely used for this purpose:
- P (Population): Who is the patient or what is the population? - I (Intervention): What is the intervention or treatment being considered? - C (Comparison): Is there a comparison treatment or intervention? - O (Outcome): What are the desired outcomes or effects?
