To become a CRNA, one must first obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree and gain a minimum of one year of experience as a registered nurse (RN) in a critical care setting. Following this, the individual must complete a master's or doctoral degree program in nurse anesthesia, which typically takes 2-4 years. After completing the program, the candidate must pass the National Certification Examination to become a certified CRNA.
