The NCLEX uses a method called Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT). This means that the difficulty of the questions adjusts based on the test taker's performance. The test can range from 75 to 145 questions for the NCLEX-RN and 85 to 205 questions for the NCLEX-PN. The exam covers several domains including Safe and Effective Care Environment, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Psychosocial Integrity, and Physiological Integrity.
