The NCLEX exam uses a Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) format. The scoring algorithm determines whether a candidate has passed or failed based on their responses relative to the passing standard set by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). Candidates will receive their official results from their state board of nursing approximately six weeks after taking the exam.
