The bleeding time test is usually performed using the Ivy method or the Duke method. In the Ivy method, a blood pressure cuff is placed on the upper arm and inflated to 40 mmHg to standardize the pressure. A small incision is then made on the forearm, and the time it takes for bleeding to stop is measured. The Duke method involves a puncture on the earlobe or fingertip. Nurses are responsible for ensuring the correct procedure, maintaining a sterile environment, and accurately recording the bleeding time.
