The APACHE II score is calculated using a range of physiological parameters and laboratory values obtained within the first 24 hours of ICU admission. These parameters include:
Temperature Mean arterial pressure Heart rate Respiratory rate Oxygenation (PaO2/FiO2 ratio) Arterial pH Serum sodium and potassium levels Serum creatinine Hematocrit White blood cell count Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score
These values are then combined with information about the patient’s age and chronic health conditions to generate a final score.
