ROP severity is classified into five stages:
1.
Stage 1:
Mildly abnormal blood vessel growth.
2.
Stage 2:
Moderately abnormal blood vessel growth.
3.
Stage 3:
Severely abnormal blood vessel growth.

Stage 4:
Partially detached retina.
5.
Stage 5:
Completely detached retina, leading to blindness.
