How Do Social Determinants of Health Affect Nursing?
Social determinants of health are conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age. These factors include socioeconomic status, education, neighborhood and physical environment, employment, and social support networks. Nurses must be aware of these determinants as they can influence a patient's health status and access to healthcare services. For instance, a patient from a low-income background may face barriers in accessing medication and follow-up care.
