Pacemaker cells maintain the heart’s rhythm by automatically generating electrical impulses. These impulses spread through the atria, causing them to contract and push blood into the ventricles. The electrical signal then reaches the atrioventricular (AV) node, which acts as a gateway, before traveling down the bundle of His and through the Purkinje fibers. This coordinated activity ensures the heart beats in a synchronized manner.
