Transferring an RN license from one state to another is possible through a process known as endorsement. Nurses must apply for licensure by endorsement in the new state, providing proof of their existing license, educational background, and often passing a background check. Some states participate in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), allowing nurses to practice in multiple states with one license.
