To properly place a patient in this position, follow these steps:
Ensure the patient is lying flat on their back. Raise the head of the bed to a 30-45 degree angle. Adjust pillows under the patient's head and shoulders for additional support and comfort. Check that the patient's hips are not flexed more than 30 degrees to avoid undue pressure on the abdomen. Ensure the patient's arms are comfortably positioned, either on pillows or at their sides.
