What is Hypertensive Nephropathy?

Hypertensive nephropathy, also known as hypertensive kidney disease, is a medical condition caused by chronic high blood pressure. Over time, elevated blood pressure can damage the kidneys' blood vessels, leading to impaired kidney function and potentially progressing to chronic kidney disease (CKD) or end-stage renal disease (ESRD).

Pathophysiology of Hypertensive Nephropathy

The underlying mechanism involves the constant elevated pressure in the renal arteries, leading to thickening and narrowing of these vessels.
